Hey 5th Grade Parents--Is your student interested in AVID as an elective next year? AVID is an elective where students learn various skills to prepare them for college and career success. While any student can apply, there are general criteria that most AVID recruits tend to meet.
AVID recruits are:
β’ highly motivated goal-setters who aspire to grow and improve
β’ generally successful in academic spaces; they learn, make good grades, and achieve success
β’ well-behaved citizens and leaders on their campus
β’ with support, able to handle rigorous 6th grade honor core classes (with STAAR Reading and Math data to validate placement)
β’ good kids moving from better to best
