She's joining our flock as a First Grade Teacher and we couldnβt be more excited to have her passion, energy, and heart for students joining our campus family. π
Here is a bit about Mrs. Dawson:
I have been in education for 18 years. I was a paraprofessional for 10 years and have been in my own classroom for 8 years. I graduated from LeTourneau University with a degree in education. My passion is reading/writing and the growth that comes with 1st graders learning to read fluently. I hope to bring my knowledge collaborated together with other teachers and administrators to ensure critical thinking skills, growth mindset, and a love for reading/learning embedded in all of our first grade learners.
I'm excited to meet my first grade team, my Owens family, and our wonderful students. I know itβs going to be an incredible school year and I feel blessed to be part of a community that loves children as much as I do.

I have been teaching 2nd grade at Owens for the past 2 years. Itβs been a wonderful experience helping students grow both academically and personally during such an important stage of their learning journey.
Next year, Iβll be moving to 1st grade, and I couldnβt be more excited! Iβm looking forward to building strong foundational skills with some of our younger learners and watching their enthusiasm for reading, writing, and discovery take off. I feel grateful for the opportunity to continue growing as an educator while staying part of the Owens community. Iβm so excited for all that the new school year will bring!

I cannot wait to get to know everyone. Owens is an incredible school, and I am honored to be an Eagle.

Weβre so lucky to keep her talent in our school family. Here is a bit about Mrs. Boyd:
I have been at Owens for almost six years now! Before being hired, I student-taught at Owens in 2nd grade and then in 1st grade, and I fell in love with the students, teachers, and the community. I served as a 1st grade teacher for two years, then transitioned to Kindergarten, where I taught for three years.
I have always known that I wanted to do more for the students at Owens and be a support system for the teachers. When hearing this position was available, I felt called to make a greater impact on our school.
I am most excited to teach all of the students who have graced my classroom over the years and continue to love on them as they grow! My goal is to ignite a passion for reading and a love for learning in our library. I am also incredibly excited to work closely with our amazing staff at Owens and to remain in the school that has always felt like home. I cannot wait for this year!

Here is a bit about Mrs. Windham:
My name is Brooke Windham and I will be teaching Kindergarten at Owens. Iβm originally from Midlothian, TX but Tyler has become my home since I moved here with my amazing Husband. I enjoy reading, crafting, and spending time with my family and friends.
I decided to become a teacher because Iβve seen firsthand the powerful impact a dedicated teacher can have on a childβs life. I want to be that kind of teacher βsomeone a child feels safe with, supported by, and inspired to learn from. Creating a safe, encouraging environment where students can grow both academically and personally is something Iβm deeply passionate about.
Owens feels like family. Iβve had the opportunity to student teach and be a long term substitute on this campus and can truly say that the staff at Owens is like no other. Iβm excited that I get to join this amazing team and work alongside some of the very best!

My name is Julie Wiggins and I am so excited to join the Owens team as a first grade teacher! I was born and raised in LaRue and am a graduate of Texas A&M Commerce.
I have an amazing fiancΓ©, and the best family and friends you could ask for. I love fashion, cooking, and anything outdoors. I have taught first grade for three wonderful years.
My heart has always been drawn to children and teaching- it is truly my passion and calling. I love to have fun and be silly with my students, I think that is what learning is all about! I have heard amazing things about this campus, the staff, and the family connections and support. I truly cannot wait to begin my journey at Owens and meet my future students and their families- it will be an amazing year!

PreK through 2nd grade had their field day today and it was a blast! A huge thank you to Coach Jeong, Coach Kenebrew and our amazing volunteers and lighthouse students for pulling off such a fun event!









3-5 Relay Day was a success! Students had a blast with some friendly competition with certain classes earning the coveted 1st place trophy! We can't wait to see the fun PreK-2 have next week! π¦

Ms. Wasik's RLA classes took creativity to the next level this week by using black lights and highlighters to bring their blackout poetry writing to life. The unique, glowing environment inspired students to think outside the box and transform ordinary text into something truly special. It was a fun and innovative way to engage in the art of poetry! #WhereLeadersSoar
