This past Friday the Tyler Legacy Jazz Bands participated in the TJC Jazz Festival! They performed and received a clinic from Ben Patterson from the Air Force Airmen of Note and George Faber. They did a phenomenal job with their performances!

This morning Legacy ROTC had their annual off site inspection.
Legacy welcomed Lt. Col. Steve Thompson to our site for the inspection. All Legacy ROTC students were present. ROTC students went through a series of drills for Lt. Col. Thompson. Students were able to ask questions and gain more information about military life. ROTC passed their inspection and we are so proud!

Congratulations to Legacy's Rookie of the Year, Justin Threadgill.
He is one of the Assistant Band Director here at Tyler Legacy High School. As a Band Director, he conducts the Symphonic Winds, Jazz 2, co-teaches within all of our other music ensembles including the Marching Band, and assists at our feeder Middle Schools. When asked what he likes about Legacy he said, "Tyler Legacy has been an extremely welcoming environment with an amazing destination campus. It is a great place to work as part of an exceptional team. I am beyond thankful to have such supportive colleagues and students. I am very happy to be here and to be part of the Red Raider family!"

Congratulations of Legacy's Teacher of the Year, Ms. Abby McCarty.
This is Abby's seventh year in education and second as a Raider teaching the PTC Unit (Precision Teaching Classroom). She is a strong advocate in helping ALL students be successful and independent. She is passionate about raising awareness about Autism and transforming learning for students in creative ways.
We are so lucky to have Ms. McCarty at Legacy! Congratulations!
The past two weekends, the Southern Belles Drill Team competed at two State level competitions. At their first competition, officers received 2nd runner up in their category, and the team received 5th of the entire competition of over 60 teams. This last weekend, the Southern Belle officers competed and won 1st runner up in their category and received 6th of the entire completion of over 50 teams.

Last night Tyler Legacy hosted our fifth annual Black History Month program. We had a high attendance from both Legacy students and community members. Students eagerly filed into the Legacy Theater to support their classmates during the many show stopping performances. The all-star performances included poetry readings, singing performances of popular songs and original compositions, group performances, and more. The crowd also got to hear from lifelong educator and local pastor, Rodney Curry.
