Our middle school students put their hearts into action 💌 As part of Mrs. Fallad’s Valentine Card Drive initiative, they created thoughtful Valentine’s cards to spread love and encouragement to children in hospitals and seniors in assisted living facilities. What a beautiful way to share kindness!

Mrs. Hernandez’s 2nd graders had a wonderful time celebrating Rosa Parks’ birthday today! Throughout the week, students have been learning about her life and the important role she played in history.
To honor her contributions, the class created thoughtful birthday cards and enjoyed cupcakes together — a sweet way to remember a true hero who helped change the world. 💛✨
We are so proud of our students for learning about courage, kindness, and standing up for what is right!

Students are encouraged to wear white, blue, or green on February 6th.

🌤️🐿️ Punxsutawney Phil has spoken! Since he saw his shadow, our Pre-K friends made their own winter magic today ❄️
From learning about Groundhog Day to making and playing with homemade snow, smiles, giggles, and chilly fun filled the classroom. Winter learning is always better when it’s hands-on! ⛄💙

Ms. Sparkman’s art class has spoken—and the verdict is in 🎉🎨 Bubble blowing art is a TOTAL win! Big smiles, creative minds, and lots of bubbly fun made for an unforgettable art experience. 🫧✨

Birdwell Dual Language Immersion School Library has decided to hold a Read-A-Thon this year!
Read-A-Thons actually get your reader excited about reading and it gives friends and family the opportunity to encourage your child to read even more.
Our Read-A-Thon starts Monday February 16, 2026.
About one week before our Read-A-Thon starts we will send home instructions on how to activate your reader's personal page. This is where you will be able to view and record their progress.
We encourage you to activate your reader’s account today by clicking on https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/323832303439/1?utm=email and following the simple instructions.
We've chosen Read-A-Thon because it will not take much of your time, gives your child a reason to read and helps in the development of stronger reading skills.

🎉💯 100 DAYS SMARTER! 💯🎉
Our Kindergarteners at Birdwell celebrated the 100th Day of School in the cutest ways! From counting to 100 to showing off their creativity, these little learners have grown so much in just 100 days. We are so proud of all their hard work and big smiles! 🐦📚✨

🎉🌟 Congratulations to Our Birdwell Teachers of the Year! 🌟🎉
We are so proud to celebrate two outstanding educators who truly make Birdwell shine!
👏 Elementary Teacher of the Year: Ms. Sonia Gonzalez, 3rd Grade
👏 Middle School Teacher of the Year: Ms. Eva Salas
Both Ms. Gonzalez and Ms. Salas go above and beyond every single day to support, inspire, and empower our students. Their dedication, passion for teaching, and love for our Birdwell community do not go unnoticed.
Thank you for the incredible impact you make in the lives of our students and families. 💙📚
Please help us congratulate these amazing teachers! 🎊🍎

✨ ¡Orgullo Birdwell! / Birdwell Pride! ✨
We are so proud to celebrate our incredible students who competed in the Regional Spanish Spelling Bee! 🎉
👏 Tania Maldonado (7th grade)
👏 Mauro Ortega (7th grade)
👏 Maite Betancourt (5th grade)
These students competed against participants from four other districts, and all three Birdwell students placed in the Top 3, earning their spot at the State Spanish Spelling Bee in June in El Paso! 🏆📚
The competition required spelling extremely challenging words in Spanish, and their success is a true testament to their hard work, dedication, and perseverance. We also want to recognize the amazing support and guidance from their teachers — Mrs. Perez, Mrs. Gurrusquieta, and Mrs. Salas — who helped make this achievement possible. 💙
¡Felicidades! We can’t wait to cheer you on at State! 🎊🇲🇽

🎉 Congratulations to Birdwell’s Mrs. Kinney and Mr. Zapico! 🎉
We are thrilled to celebrate Mrs. Kinney and Mr. Zapico on their grants being funded by the Tyler ISD Foundation! Today’s surprise check presentation was made even more special with the support of our band, cheerleaders, drill team members, and foundation representatives. Thank you both for your dedication to Birdwell and for continuing to create meaningful opportunities for our students—we are so proud of you! 💙👏

Help us bring joy to seniors in nursing homes and children facing medical issues. Collection runs from January 20th through February 5th.

Our Birdwell students spent time learning about and remembering Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., reflecting on his dream and what it means in their own lives. From thoughtful conversations to meaningful activities, our students were reminded that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference.

Today on Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, we are so grateful for Officer Matthew Ranshaw, our dedicated school resource officer. Thank you for keeping our students and staff safe, building positive relationships with our kids, and being such a constant, caring presence on our campus. We appreciate all you do for our school family every single day! 👮♂️💙
