Learning has never been so sweet! Our students explored mixtures and solutions by creating homemade ice cream in a bag. Using milk, vanilla, and sugar, they observed how these ingredients combined to form a solution. As scientists, students constructed and supported an argument using evidence from their observations to explain why the combination of milk, vanilla, and sugar is a solution. They discussed how the ingredients mixed evenly and worked together to create a delicious treat! This hands-on experiment helped students connect science concepts to real-world experiences while practicing critical thinking, observation, and scientific reasoning. 🍨 Science + Learning + Fun = Success!

Birdwell students and staff had a blast dressing up as their favorite Hispanic artists! From musicians and painters to performers who have made their mark on the world, today was a fun way to celebrate the talent, creativity, and rich cultural contributions of the Hispanic community. ❤️ ¡Celebramos con orgullo nuestra cultura y herencia! 💃🎤🎨

Start With Hello Week: September 21–25 Next week, we will celebrate Start With Hello Week! Please encourage students to participate in each day’s activity: Monday: Greet someone new with a smile, wave, or high five. Tuesday: Write a kind or encouraging note to someone. Wednesday: Help create our Heritage Tree by sharing cultures, traditions, and stories. Thursday: List ways to show kindness and choose one to put into action. Friday: Wear cowboy or western attire as we celebrate friendship, community, and traditions.

Ms. Tiemblo’s Pre-K students learned about Mexican culture and history while practicing their fine motor skills and identifying geometric shapes. Students put their learning into action by creating colorful designs with the shapes and proudly displaying their finished work outside the classroom! We love seeing our youngest Birdwell learners build important skills while celebrating the rich traditions of Mexican culture! ✂️🔺🟩🟡

We loved welcoming our Birdwell families to campus tonight for Open House! It was a wonderful evening of connecting with teachers, visiting classrooms, and seeing all the amazing learning happening at Birdwell Dual Language Immersion School. Some of our Birdwell Middle School students had an exciting opportunity to participate in Constitution Day activities at UT Tyler! Students spent the day learning more about the U.S. Constitution, civic engagement, and the important role our founding document plays in American government. We are grateful to UT Tyler for providing our students with an educational experience beyond the classroom and encouraging them to become informed, engaged citizens! ❤️🤍💙

During Ms. Olalde's 1st grade Social Studies lesson, students learned about Hispanic Heritage Month by exploring the diverse cultures, traditions, and customs of Hispanic communities. Students learned how families celebrate by making a piñata that they decorated themselves and filled with candy to take home and celebrate with their families.

La Raspa brought culture, color, and tradition to Birdwell this morning! 🇲🇽💃🎶 Our students looked amazing dressed in authentic Hispanic folkwear as we came together to celebrate the rich traditions of Hispanic culture during Hispanic Heritage Month. 🔬🧪 Science in Action: Mixtures and Solutions! Our students are having a great time exploring how mixtures can be separated during our Mixtures and Solutions unit in science. A mixture is a combination of two or more substances that retain their own physical properties and can be separated using different methods. Today, students investigated the learning goal: “I can investigate what happens to matter when it is combined in mixtures and then separated back into its original substances.” Through hands-on exploration, students observed how matter changes when substances are mixed and discovered different ways to separate those mixtures. Today, our Birdwell students proudly wore red, white, and blue as we observed Patriot Day and remembered the events of September 11, 2001. We honor the lives lost, recognize the courage of first responders and everyday heroes, and reflect on the importance of unity, kindness, courage, and service to others. 🇺🇸

We are so proud of these amazing Birdwell students for starting the school year strong and showing what it means to be a Birdwell leader! 📚💙 Your hard work, positive attitudes, and commitment to doing your best have not gone unnoticed.

Our Birdwell PTA helped us celebrate in the sweetest way by providing breakfast and coffee for our staff in honor of Birdwell continuing our A rating! 🎉⭐ We are so thankful for a PTA that continually supports, encourages, and celebrates our teachers and staff. It truly takes a village, and we are blessed to have the BEST! 💙

This week, Ms. Pujol's class read "We Are (Not) Friends" and talked about the importance of being kind, including everyone, never leaving anyone alone, and taking care of one another. Our students also made friendship bracelets for their friends as a special reminder that friendship is all about kindness, caring, and making others feel loved and included! 📚✨🧵

Our Birdwell middle school students had the opportunity to experience our NEW Makerspace area after completing their library lesson and book checkout! From exploring hands-on activities to creating, building, and problem-solving, students were excited to see all the possibilities this new space has to offer. 🧩⚙️💡 The Makerspace gives our students a place to turn their curiosity into creativity while developing collaboration, critical-thinking, and STEM skills. We can’t wait to see what our Birdwell students create this year! 💙📚
