Caldwell Arts Academy is one of only two schools in the nation to receive the Arts Schools Network Arts Integration Award. This award is presented to a school that has demonstrated leadership in bringing arts integration strategies into the curriculum. Principal leadership is key, and teacher buy-in and commitment evidence is a requisite.

"Arts integration is the bridge that ties what we do in the academic classrooms to what we do in our arts classrooms," Caldwell Principal Bobby Markle said. "This allows us to create a unique experience for kids that taps into their arts talents and supports a deeper understanding of what they are learning in math, science, reading, and social studies. Plus, it's just FUN!"

Arts Schools Network empowers leaders of arts schools by connecting them regionally, nationally, and internationally to raise the quality, profile, and success of the students they serve.

"Students can express themselves in a risk-free environment through arts integration," Caldwell kindergarten teacher Melanie Ransome said. "Students learn how to communicate with one another to explain their point of view while listening to others' perspectives."
