Sandra Newton holding two trophy/awards earned for being named administrator of the year by TAEA

The Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) announced Tyler ISD Director of Fine Arts Sandra Newton as the TAEA Administrator of the Year.

"It is my honor, pleasure, and I am beyond joyful to serve the teachers and students of Tyler ISD," Mrs. Newton said. "I'm passionate about the arts and humbled by this award. I feel incredibly fortunate to serve as Director of Fine Arts for Tyler ISD in a community I cherish, and work at something I value so much!"

The Texas Art Education Association recognized Mrs. Newton for her significant contributions to TAEA and arts education on the state, local, and national levels. TAEA strives to honor its hard-working supporters and members by recognizing their continued efforts and significant achievements in art education. Newton's peers have noted her hard work, dedication, and advocacy. 

Mrs. Newton received her award during the award ceremony and reception Friday, November 5, in Round Rock, Texas, at the Kalahari Resort.

Tyler ISD has also received the TAEA District of Distinction for the third consecutive year. This distinction places Tyler ISD in the top 4% of visual art programs in Texas.
