Congratulations to our District Elementary Teacher of Month, Omar Rodriguez, bilingual teacher at Griffin Elementary School.

For more than 20 years, Mr. Rodriguez has been a dedicated member of the Griffin community, making a lasting impact on students, colleagues, and the campus he proudly serves. His commitment to students has remained constant throughout his career, and this year, he demonstrated that commitment in a new way by embracing a challenge outside of his comfort zone.

With the implementation of the campus’s new ESE curriculum, Mr. Rodriguez was asked to adjust his teaching practices and take on a new approach to supporting students. While the change initially brought uncertainty, he chose to see it as an opportunity to grow. Rather than allowing the unfamiliar to hold him back, Mr. Rodriguez leaned into the learning process and committed himself to doing whatever was needed to best serve his students.

Throughout the year, he has worked diligently to strengthen his practice, seek and apply feedback, and make the new curriculum his own. His willingness to learn and adapt has not only helped him grow as an educator but has also positioned him as a resource and model for his fellow teachers.

What makes Mr. Rodriguez’s journey especially meaningful is the positive attitude he brings to the process. Even when the work has been challenging, he continues to show up with a smile, a willingness to help others, and a determination to put students first.

Mr. Rodriguez embodies what it means to be a Griffin Bulldog: committed, resilient, willing to grow, and dedicated to student success. After more than two decades in education, he continues to show that great teachers never stop learning.
