A talented Tyler ISD student is being recognized at the state level after her artwork was selected for a prestigious student exhibition celebrating Youth Art Month.

Khia Patton, a sixth-grade student at Caldwell Arts Academy, had her piece titled β€œSwimming Swede” chosen for the Texas Art Education Association Youth Art Month (YAM) Spring Exhibition. The statewide showcase highlights exceptional artwork created by Pre-K through 12th-grade students from across Texas.

Patton’s artwork will be displayed throughout March at the Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin. The annual exhibition celebrates creativity, artistic expression, and the importance of visual arts education in schools. The First Lady of Texas will also select some of each year’s entries for display at the Governor’s Business Office for the coming year.

The Youth Art Month exhibition provides young artists the opportunity to share their work with thousands of visitors from across the state while recognizing the dedication of students and art educators who inspire creativity in the classroom.

Community members and visitors are invited to view the exhibit at the Bullock Museum from March 1–29, 2026, or explore the featured artwork online through the museum’s Youth Art Month exhibition page (posted at the end of March).

Tyler ISD celebrates Khia Patton’s achievement and the continued success of students who are demonstrating their creativity and talent through the visual arts.
