Tyler ISD shone a spotlight on its brightest stars in education during the 2024 Educators of the Year Banquet, an evening filled with recognition and the spirit of excellence. This event, made possible by the generous support of the Cooperative Teachers Credit Union (CTCU) and other sponsors, showcased the remarkable achievements of Tyler ISD’s educators and leaders.

The District’s Rookie of the Year went to Tiffany Simmons from DAEP for her exceptional instruction and dedication in her inaugural year of teaching.

Rachel Sherman, Principal at Three Lakes Middle School, received well-deserved accolades as the 2024 Principal of the Year. Sherman’s profound impact on students, faculty, and the wider community exemplifies her dedication to excellence within Tyler ISD.

Superintendent Dr. Marty Crawford presented awards to the 29 campus teachers of the year, each recognized for their commitment to academic excellence. Layne Fumo from Caldwell Arts Academy was honored as the District Elementary Teacher of the Year, and Erin Lamb from Three Lakes Middle School was honored as the District Secondary Teacher of the Year.

“Our District Teachers of the Year, Principal of the Year, and Rookie of the Year epitomize the values that define Tyler ISD,” Crawford said. “Their dedication and leadership inspire us all.”

Fumo and Lamb will carry Tyler ISD’s banner of excellence as they vie for the Regional Teacher of the Year title through the Region 7 Service Center.
