❗️Due to a chance of rain this morning, Popsicles with the Principal will now take place on Tuesday August 5th from 4:00-5:00pm! Same location - front playground! We look forward to seeing everyone there!☀️🎉

Parents, please send your student to school with over-the-ear headphones by the first day of school.

When purchasing headphones, please double-check the box to ensure they are not Bluetooth or rechargeable, as these types do not work effectively with our district Chromebooks.

Also, be sure to label the headphones with your child’s name so their teacher can easily identify them.

We apologize for the confusion — headphones were mistakenly removed from the school supply list created at the end of last school year. Additionally, if you purchased a supply kit through the PTA, please note that headphones were not included due to a mix-up with the supply list.

Here is a bit about Ms. Walker: I am super excited to be joining the amazing team at Owens Elementary! I’ve been in education for over 20 years, and my teaching career began right here at Owens back in 2004. Becoming a teacher has always felt like a calling, and I truly believe in the power of education to make a difference. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to teach and lead in a variety of roles. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and my master’s in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at Tyler. I’m currently working on my Ed.S. in Reading from Georgia Southern University, because I genuinely believe that great educators are always learning and growing. When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, dancing, and treating myself to a good mani/pedi. I also love bowling, card games, and puzzles. And I’ve got to mention that I’m a huge Dallas Cowboys fan! On game days, you’ll definitely find me in my jersey cheering loud for America’s Team. I was a paraprofessional for 10 years and have been in my own classroom for 8 years. I graduated from LeTourneau University with a degree in education. My passion is reading/writing and the growth that comes with 1st graders learning to read fluently. I hope to bring my knowledge collaborated together with other teachers and administrators to ensure critical thinking skills, growth mindset, and a love for reading/learning embedded in all of our first grade learners. I'm excited to meet my first grade team, my Owens family, and our wonderful students. 🎉Familar Face Friday🎉 Please join us in celebrating Mrs. Fox as she takes on a new role at Owens! After making a huge impact in 2nd grade, she’s stepping into a 1st grade classroom this year and will serve as grade level lead🌟 Her passion, dedication, and love for our students continue to shine—just in a new grade level! 💙📚 We’re so lucky to keep her talent in our school family. Here is a bit about Mrs. Fox: I have been teaching 2nd grade at Owens for the past 2 years. It’s been a wonderful experience helping students grow both academically and personally during such an important stage of their learning journey. Next year, I’ll be moving to 1st grade, and I couldn’t be more excited! I’m looking forward to building strong foundational skills with some of our younger learners and watching their enthusiasm for reading, writing, and discovery take off. I feel grateful for the opportunity to continue growing as an educator while staying part of the Owens community. I’m so excited for all that the new school year will bring!
