
We traveled to Disney today for Read Across America week! Mrs. Brittain's class experienced the castle and fireworks show during their virtual field trip!



Ms. Matthews Kindergarten class learned about drawing conclusions about graphs. They watched Ms. Matthews model, and then they worked with partners on answering questions about a graph. Great job, Kinder Cougars! πΎ




Mrs. Mercer's 4th grade math students have been incorporating exercises into their lessons! Student helpers roll dice and the class completes an exercise based on a grid. π§ πͺ








Today's weather is dark and gloomy βοΈ but last Friday was the perfect day to celebrate the excellent behavior we've been seeing! Students at our behavior party enjoyed decorating Crumbl cookies and outdoor games. πͺ β½οΈ π

Staff Spotlight: Mrs. Kinney and Ms. Clayton.
Mrs. Kinney and Ms. Clayton are so important to us at Clarkston. As Media Technology Specialist and Media Technology Specialist Assistan, they make sure students have access to books and digital resources they need to be successful! Our Cougars love the engaging read-alouds and activities Mrs. Kinney and Ms. Clayton plan for them. They are always helping and doing anything and everything!

Our 5th graders are learning food chains by making actual chains. The students explained how energy is being transferred by consumers and producers and how they connect and overlap.

Our 2nd graders worked independently on their Black History Projects. They did their own research, wrote the information, and presented it all on their own. We are so proud of our 2nd graders and all of their hard work!

GAME CHANGER! βοΈ Mrs. Brittain's 3rd graders have been using Class Companion to help improve their reading and writing with instant feedback. Students have learned to take their feedback and improve their writing in real-time. π§ πͺ






Mrs. Craft's 4th graders are working in collaborative pairs to prepare for their reading and writing benchmark test tomorrow. Pairs get to move their game piece through the game board when they answer questions correctly. π§ πͺ π






Ms. Freeman's 5th graders are getting ready for their reading and writing benchmark tomorrow! They are working in teams to answer editing and revising questions. Teams can then select cards to earn, lose, double, or steal points! π§ πͺ π βοΈ






Staff Spotlight: Caren Lewis
Ms. Lewis is known for her "Caren Lewis" show and her bright smile. She is always eager to jump in and help where she is needed. She offers to help with professional developments with teachers and totally knows her TEKS for 5th grade. Ms. Lewis is always ready to learn more and is on fire with her 5th grade team. You can find Ms. Lewis working on lesson plans, running 5 laps in the morning, cooking some really good food, and creating a family environment for her students. Clarkston Elementary is so proud and lucky that she chose to work with us.
