children on stage wearing brightly colored dresses and headdresses with bright feathers

Caldwell Arts Academy celebrated its 4th Annual Day of the Dead by honoring the spirits of loved ones that return to the living world. A beautifully displayed ofrenda adorned with bright marigolds, candles, and pictures of loved ones lined the entrance.

Guests were greeted with traditional sugar skulls and Mexican pan dulce. The Middle School Mariachi Band played delightful songs while student artwork was displayed in the gallery.

Performances by Mexican Ballet Folklorico and Aztec dancers, including students from Birdwell Dual Language Immersion School, adorned the stage at Caldwell Auditorium.

Everyone had the opportunity to experience traditional catrina face painting and participate in the artisanal market that transformed the street outside with local Hispanic-owned businesses.
