Tyler ISD has received a district Texas Education Agency (TEA) accountability grade of ‘B’ for the 2021-2022 school year. The district received a performance score of 88, up from the previous year’s (2019 was the most recent rating) 85 score, and an overall Met Standard rating. Schools and districts were labeled Not Rated: Declared State of Disaster for 2020 and 2021.

The TEA grading system scores districts on three domains for measuring the academic performance of districts and campuses: Student Achievement, School Progress, and Closing the Gaps. Districts and campuses receive a rating of A, B, C, D, or F for overall performance and performance in each domain. The district improved its rating in every domain and overall in the accountability system. Thirteen Tyler ISD campuses improved by one letter grade, 10 maintained their letter grades, and three campuses experienced a slight decline by only one letter grade. All campuses met standard. This is the first time since 2009-2010 that Tyler ISD had zero campuses “Unacceptable” or “Improvement Required.” This is the best year Tyler ISD has had in a decade or more.

“Tyler ISD students, staff, and administrators put in a stellar effort in improving the district’s overall accountability grade from a solid B to a high B,” Superintendent Dr. Marty Crawford said. “Although this gain is significant, as we have done every year for the past nine years, the District will echo its emphasis of continuous improvement to ensure successful student outcomes in all three performance measures set forth by the TEA grading system.”
