Leadership Announcement

Three Tyler ISD elementary campuses along with Hubbard Middle School will be under new leadership for the 2022-2023 school year. Trustees approved the new appointments during the special board meeting on Thursday, June 2, 2022.

“We are excited about these new placements for the 2022-2023 school year,” Superintendent Dr. Marty Crawford said. “Our goal is to put proven leaders into positions where they can have the most impact. Tyler ISD is fortunate to have an established leadership pipeline, giving us the ability to promote great educators from within.”

2022-2023 New Campus Leadership 

Todd Dreifort, Hubbard Middle School – Todd Dreifort joins us from Scottsdale, AZ, where he was most recently the principal of Chaparral High School. Mr. Dreifort has moved to East Texas to be closer to family. He has held several positions throughout his career, including principal, assistant principal, and history teacher, and has coached basketball, baseball, and football. Mr. Dreifort has 28 years in education.


Lauren Smith, Orr Elementary School – Lauren Smith most recently served as Academic Dean at Tyler High School from 2020 to 2022 and assistant principal from 2019 to 2020. She has also served as a District SL Instructional Specialist, District iLit Coordinator, Master Teacher at Hogg Middle School, and Reading and English Department chair at Hogg. Mrs. Smith taught high school English and coached volleyball, basketball, and track. Mrs. Smith has 13 years in education.


Weldon Davis, Owens Elementary School – Before moving to Tyler to be closer to family, Henderson native Weldon Davis was an assistant principal at North Mesquite High School from 2018 to 2021. Prior to that, Mr. Davis was a physics teacher at North Mesquite High School from 2014 to 2018. Mr. Davis has eight years in education.


Angelica Brown, Ramey Elementary School – Angelica Brown was most recently at Jones Elementary School for five years. She served as an assistant principal from 2019 to 2022 and Master Teacher from 2017 to 2019. Before that, Mrs. Brown was a math teacher at Hubbard Middle School from 2010 to 2016. Mrs. Brown has 12 years in education.
