Folklorico dancers on stage in traditional costumes - yellow, red, blue long skirts

From solos to groups and every combination between, the students and staff celebrated Cinco de Mayo with an extraordinary performance by dance group Mexico 2000 Ballet Folklorico.

Cinco de Mayo is celebrated as the day the Mexican Army defeated the French Army.  The event host encouraged students to "show our joy" during the program and all enthusiastically participated by clapping and cheering from their seats.  Also presented were Hispanic traditions, including dance, music, arts and crafts, costumes, history, and food.  One memorable moment was when the audience was taught to yell "Viva!" as loud as possible every time someone on stage yelled "Long Live Mexico."
