elementary age students dressed up as book characters

Rice Elementary students showed their excitement for reading as they paraded down the school hallways in front of family and friends. They were dressed as their favorite character in their favorite book. The costumes weren’t only for students. Rice teachers and staff joined in dressed as characters from books such as The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, Pete the Cat, Junie B. Jones, Dr. Seuss, and many others.

Parents filled the courtyard to cheer on their students and show support.  “This was my first experience with a book character parade, Principal Smiley said. "The staff and students' enthusiasm really blew me away!"
