African American high school students dancing on stage with a red background

Tyler Legacy Fine Arts presented their 4th Annual Black History Program: Celebration of Black Excellence on Tuesday, February 22.  This free event attracted a steady stream of families from the community before the doors to the theatre even opened.

Legacy High School African American Studies teacher, Ms. Chandra Hayter, welcomed the audience and the evening's keynote speaker Rev. Orenthia Mason to the stage. The entire program was thoughtful, moving with a line-up of inspirational music, dance, and oration performances.

Rev. Orenthia Mason lifted the audience with her words, "Don't ever look down on yourself. Look up! Look up! When you look up, you see there are no limits to what you can accomplish."

After the program, all guests were invited to indulge in an African American food showcase. Students served a variety of delicious bite-sized sweet creations.
