The Winter Olympics have begun, and PE classes at Owens Elementary are working toward the Gold!

Ms. Holly Drain's classes use teamwork to raise their heart rate and raise the torch for Team USA.

"I wanted to make learning about the Olympic games to be fun and interactive. I'm lucky to have such great leadership with the support of our Principal, Mrs. Rachel Sherman, to allow me to be creative with our PE classes," said Drain.

Each period students take turns experiencing a variety of athletic stations. These include torch run, curling, hockey, biathlon, snowboarding, bobsled, freestyle skiing, and speed skating.

Most students say bobsled and curling are their favorite activities.

Ms. Drain also teaches about the different countries' cultures represented at the Olympic games and character building with her students. Kindness, responsibility, patience, and the importance of working together to meet common goals.
