Tyler ISD is proud to recognize our Class of 2021 Valedictorians and Salutatorians:

Valedictorians
Saide Bernal - Early College High School Valedictorian

Saide Bernal, daughter of Jesus and Sabrina Bernal, plans to attend The University of Texas at Austin to major in government. Along with her high school diploma, Saide will earn an associate degree in sociology from Tyler Junior College, where she is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. At ECHS, she is the community service coordinator for the National Honor Society, a Peer Assisted Learning tutor, and an Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) student. Saide volunteers with Junior Achievement, Toys for Tots, Park Place Nursing Home, and other community organizations. Congratulations, Saide!


Jean Brigido – Tyler High School Valedictorian

Jean Brigido, son of Nestor and Isela Brigido, plans to attend The University of Texas at Austin to major in business. Jean is president of the Technology Student Association (TSA) and a member of the National Honor Society, Math UIL competition team, and the Tyler High soccer team. He earned Soccer Academic All-State honors, an OSHA 30 certification, and he is a state TSA qualifier. Outside of school, Jean volunteers at the East Texas Food Bank. Congratulations, Jean!


Caroline Richbourg – Tyler Legacy High School Valedictorian

Caroline Richbourg, daughter of Kenneth and Rae-Ann Richbourg, plans to attend The University of Texas at Austin to major in business within the Canfield Business Honors Program. Caroline is captain of the swim team, treasurer of Science National Honor Society, and a member of Key Club and several other honor societies. She is a National Merit Commended Scholar, AP Scholar with Distinction, and has received numerous swimming honors, including school records, 1st Team All-State in the 100 Butterfly, and Academic All-State Elite Team. Outside of school, Caroline is a member of the Texas Bank and Trust Student Board of Directors and volunteers with her church, local swim meets, political events, and other community services. Congratulations, Caroline! 


Salutatorians

Josue Martinez - Early College High School Salutatorian

Josue Martinez, son of Eladio Martinez and Irene Maria Contreras, plans to attend Texas A&M University to major in aerospace engineering. Along with his high school diploma, Josue will earn an associate degree from Tyler Junior College with 62 hours of dual credit and is a Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society member. At ECHS, he is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society, Rho Kapp Social Studies Honor Society, and English and Science honor societies. Outside of school, Josue volunteers with East Texas Food Bank, Carter BloodCare, and Junior Achievement. Congratulations, Josue!


Adriana Higuera – Tyler High School Salutatorian

Adriana Higuera, daughter of Ezequiel Higuera and Maura Zavala, plans to attend The University of Texas at Tyler to major in Biology and pursue a career as a pharmacist. Adriana is a member of the Tyler High marching band, National Honor Society, UIL Math team, Senior Leadership Team, and an AVID student. A student in the health sciences program, Adriana earned a CPR certification and will take the Pharmacy Technician certification exam later in May. Congratulations, Adriana!



Olivia Orren – Tyler Legacy High School Salutatorian

Olivia Orren, daughter of Jon and Jennifer Orren, plans to attend Northwestern University to major in social policy. Olivia is president of the Student Council and a member of many honor societies. She is co-captain of the debate team, where she has been a finalist in prestigious state and national-level competitions; placing 2nd in State Congressional Debate. Olivia has participated in numerous musical theatre productions at Tyler Legacy, most recently playing the role of Rusty in “Footloose.” Olivia also founded and is the president of the school’s chapter of the Zonta International Foundation Club to empower women through service and advocacy. She is part of the College Board National Small Town Recognition Program and an AP Scholar with Distinction. Olivia has tallied more than 500 volunteer hours through various community events and organizations. Congratulations, Olivia!
