Seven Tyler Legacy High School senior athletes will continue their football careers at the collegiate level after graduation. Taking part in today’s National Signing Day ceremony, these athletes signed their letters of intent in front of coaches, teammates, and family members.

“It is always an exciting time to see student athletes realize their goals of playing the sports they love at the next level,” Tyler ISD Athletic Director Greg Priest said. “We congratulate these athletes and their families on their success.”

Tyler High School athletes will hold their signing day event next Wednesday, February 10.

Legacy Coach Jason Pitts: “Dion was a three year starter on our offensive line. There was never a doubt that his side of the line was going to be solid. Legacy Coach Jason Pitts: “Chris is another big defensive lineman. He was willing and able to play any position on the defensive line. He routinely accounted for at least two offensive blockers, freeing up our back field to make plays. In his three years on varsity, he was able to make a huge impact, racking up two 1st Team All-District honors along the way.”

Garfield Lawrence - University of Houston

1st Team 10-6A All-District DE 2020
Total Tackles - 71
Solo Tackles - 39
Tackles for Loss - 10

Legacy Coach Jason Pitts: “Garfield is a big, athletic defensive end which caused opposing teams to game plan specifically for him. While two or three offensive linemen attempted to block him, his teammates were free to make a play. He made the whole defense better. He was also a vital part of our special teams, specifically punt, where he was able to hold the opposing team’s attention as a vital fake punt threat.”

1st Team All-District 2019
All-East Texas DB 2019

Legacy Coach Jason Pitts: “Jakelyn was a great addition to our secondary. The daily one-on-one work he gave to our wide receivers made both sides of the ball better. He was a solid performer on one side of the field that allowed us to work some other concepts on the other side of the field.”

Keyshawn Reggie - Navarro College

John Turman - McPherson College
One year Varsity Letterman

Legacy Coach Jason Pitts: “John came to practice every day with his mind made up to make the team better. He was one of the most important performers on our scout teams, where it is vital to have a good look at the opponent's systems. He did a great job performing, many weeks as the opponent’s best player, making our defense much better in the process.”

Kendrick Tutt - Wisconsin Lutheran College
Two year Varsity Letterman
10-6A All-District 2020
Honorable Mention Academic All-State
Pancakes - 10
