Two men unload boxes of books for Bonner ES students from the back of a pickup

Each student at Bonner Elementary School will receive a new book as a Christmas gift thanks to Marvin United Methodist Church. Marvin staff delivered the books to Bonner this week and teachers will distribute them to students before the holiday break.

“Marvin UMC more than fulfills the role of community partner, they are a part of Bonner Elementary,” Principal Stephanie Burns said. “It is actually more of familial relationship. The teachers love them, students love them, they love us, so it’s really more of a family now then a partnership.”

A community partner with Bonner for several years, the Marvin church family supports students and staff through volunteering, hosting special events, providing staff lunches, mentoring students, holding donations drives, and much more!

“I love our community partnership with Bonner Elementary School,” Marvin’s director of missions, Melissa Brigman, said. “By giving the gift of books, we also hope that this will remind the children that it is so important to read and enjoy reading.”
