Congratulations to our District Secondary Teacher of Month, Taylor Easterling, 6th grade science teacher at Moore Middle School.
Taylor Easterlingβs journey at Moore Middle School has truly come full circle. After walking the halls of Moore as a student and serving on the campus Student Council, Easterling returned to her school as an educator. Today, she is one of Mooreβs most dedicated and impactful 6th grade science teachers, working alongside some of the educators who once taught her.
Easterlingβs leadership and commitment to student success are evident throughout the campus. She serves as the 6th grade Science Professional Learning Community (PLC) Lead and interim grade-level team co-leader, helping guide her colleagues while maintaining high academic expectations for students. Her passion for science and innovation also extends beyond her classroom. Each year, she leads a STEM session during 5th grade recruitment visits, giving prospective students an opportunity to experience hands-on science and discover the possibilities that await them at Moore.
Easterling also plays an important role in Mooreβs partnership with The University of Texas at Tyler during Engineering Week. As a co-sponsor, she works directly with UT Tyler faculty and community partners to coordinate judging for the campus science fair, helping students showcase their creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Beyond academics, Easterling is deeply invested in the culture and community of Moore Middle School. She has returned to her roots as the sponsor of Student Council and serves as a charter member and co-leader of the Moore Events Committee. In that role, she has helped organize major campus events, including the Back to School Bash and Meet the Teacher night.
She also helped redesign Open House to feature student-led conferences, an AVID practice that supports Mooreβs focus on student agency and ownership.
Easterlingβs journey from Moore student to Teacher of the Month is a powerful example of the impact educators can have on their students and communities.
