Congratulations to Patrick Alvarez, a junior at Early College High School, for being named District Secondary Student of the Month.

Patrick has distinguished himself through an impressive combination of scholarship, extracurricular involvement and community service.

Ranked third in his class, Patrick maintains a straight-A record in both his Early College High School coursework and classes through Tyler Junior College (TJC). He is on track to graduate in 2028 with both his high school diploma and an Associate Degree in Biology from TJC. His dedication to academics is further reflected in his membership in the National Honor Society (NHS), Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society, Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society, National English Honor Society and Science National Honor Society.

Patrick also demonstrates strong leadership among his peers, serving as Treasurer for both NHS and HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America). His interest in healthcare extends beyond the classroom through his participation in the STARS program at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances, where high school students explore careers in the medical field.

A commitment to service is another defining part of Patrick’s character. He is a member of The Future Leaders of Tyler, volunteers with the East Texas Food Bank and serves as a PALS leader, helping new ECHS students learn strategies for managing their academic workload.

Outside the classroom, Patrick is an active competitor and STEM enthusiast. His team won the Black History Bowl during both his freshman and sophomore years, and he continues to participate in STEM Club and Science UIL.

Known for his outgoing and friendly personality and his consistent respect for faculty, Patrick leads by example. His academic accomplishments, service to others and dedication to his future make him an outstanding representative of the Tyler ISD community.

Tyler ISD District Students of the Month each receive a certificate and medal, sponsored by CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System.

Each month, Tyler ISD recognizes the exemplary efforts of two students, one from our elementary schools and one from our secondary schools, to be honored. Teachers and school principals submit nominations based on students' excellence in many areas, including academics, leadership, campus, and community involvement. These outstanding qualities lead to successful student outcomes both in and outside of the classroom.
