Tyler ISD Foundation Celebrates 30 Years

The Tyler ISD Foundation is celebrating 30 years of impacting teachers and students across the District. Since its creation in 1990, the Tyler ISD Foundation has given more than $3.17 million to the District through innovative teaching grants, parent and student programs, professional development, scholarships, academic and teaching recognition events, and more. The Foundation is asking the community to help celebrate its 30 year milestone through its annual giving campaign.

“We are thrilled to be celebrating our 30th Anniversary this year and we are asking parents, community members, and the business community to join the festivities by making a gift donation to support the students and teachers of Tyler ISD,” Tyler ISD Foundation Director Betsy Jones said. “Donations are needed to support programs that enrich the educational experience for our students and that provide new and meaningful opportunities for them.”

During the 2019-2020 school year, the Foundation gifted Tyler ISD a total of $173,063 through the support of grants, scholarships, and special programs, an increase of 54% over the previous year. Through its Grants for Great Ideas program that awarded 37 teaching grants totaling more than $90,000 last year, Tyler ISD teachers were able to incorporate innovative programs in areas like robotics, DNA fingerprinting, virtual reality experiences, performing arts, and more.

“Because of our donors, learning was inspired, teaching was enriched, and new opportunities were experienced throughout Tyler ISD,” 2019-2020 Foundation President Adam Morrow said. “Teachers and students need our support now more than ever. Powerful things happen when a community unites around a common purpose.”
