In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Tyler ISD Success Partner Go-Go’s Financial Services brought food, culture, and appreciation to the staff at Peete Elementary School. The event honored the educators who serve students every day while sharing traditions that bring communities together.
Go-Go’s staff treated teachers and staff to a lunch featuring tacos, rice, beans and ice cream. Educators gathered in the courtyard to enjoy their meal together, but lunch came with an unexpected cultural experience.
As teachers ate, they were treated to a performance of a traditional Venezuelan dance, adding music and movement to the celebration and offering staff a glimpse into another part of Hispanic culture.
The event highlighted one of the most meaningful parts of Hispanic Heritage Month: the opportunity to learn about the many cultures, traditions, and experiences represented within the Hispanic community.
And food has a special way of opening that door. Whether gathering around tacos, sharing a family recipe, listening to music, or experiencing a traditional dance, food and culture create opportunities for people to sit together, start conversations, and discover what they have in common.
For Tyler ISD, the celebration was also another example of how Success Partners can make an impact beyond providing resources. Through partnerships like Go-Go’s Financial Services, local businesses can build relationships with schools, recognize educators, and help create experiences that strengthen the connection between the district and the community.
This Hispanic Heritage Month celebration may have started with teacher appreciation and tacos, but it became something more, a chance to share a meal, experience another culture, and celebrate the people and traditions that make our community special.
Because sometimes, connection really can begin with a taco.
