Congratulations to our District Secondary Teacher of Month, Jamar McGowen, ACE teacher at Boulter Middle School.
From the very beginning of the school year, Mr. McGowen has jumped headfirst into the curriculum with enthusiasm, dedication, and a genuine desire to grow. He has already made tremendous progress as an educator and continues to challenge himself to become an even stronger teacher for his students.
Mr. McGowen is a leader among his team and consistently works collaboratively with those around him. He brings a positive attitude to his work, supports his colleagues, and keeps what is best for students and the school at the center of every decision. His willingness to contribute, listen, and learn makes him a valuable member of his team.
In the classroom, Mr. McGowen creates an engaging and encouraging environment where students want to learn. He sets high expectations while building meaningful relationships that help students feel supported and confident in their ability to succeed. His commitment to those relationships extends beyond the classroom, as he even takes time to eat lunch with his students in the cafeteria and connect with them in a more relaxed setting.
One of Mr. McGowen’s greatest strengths is his coachability and growth mindset. He welcomes feedback with a positive attitude and works to put suggestions into practice right away. He is constantly reflecting on his teaching and looking for ways to improve the learning experience for his students.
Mr. McGowen comes to school each day with a smile and an attitude that positively impacts students and staff alike. His dedication, leadership, positivity, and genuine care for students make him an outstanding educator and a deserving Teacher of the Month.
