Texas Bank and Trust Member FDIC. Student Board of Directors

Thirty-seven seniors from Tyler ISD’s Early College High School, Tyler Legacy High School, and Tyler High School have been selected to serve on the Texas Bank and Trust (TB&T) Student Board of Directors for the 2026-2027 school year.

The Student Board of Directors is a longstanding financial literacy program that recognizes outstanding high school seniors and provides them with practical experience in banking, money management, and financial decision-making.

This year’s Tyler ISD students will join 47 seniors from other Tyler-area high schools as members of the program’s 18th senior class in Tyler. Board members were introduced to TB&T staff during an orientation reception on Tuesday, August 18, at the bank’s West Grande Branch.

Throughout the year, students will explore essential financial concepts related to earning, spending, saving, investing, budgeting, and money management. As part of this year’s program, students will participate in The Real L.I.F.E. Experience 2.0, a modified real-world simulation designed to challenge them to manage the financial responsibilities they could encounter during their first year of college.

Students will also serve as advisors to Texas Bank and Trust as the bank develops a financial literacy curriculum for middle school students, giving board members an opportunity to help shape financial education for younger students.

Texas Bank and Trust established its Student Board program in 1978 as its first financial literacy initiative. Since then, more than 3,800 area high school seniors have participated. Students are selected based on factors including grade point average, extracurricular involvement, and after-school work activities. Applicants also submit an essay and two letters of recommendation from faculty members or administrators.
