Congratulations to Micah Lee, 5th grade student at Owens Elementary School, for being named the District Elementary Student of the Month.
Micah is the true definition of an outstanding Owens Eagle and an exceptional role model for her peers. She consistently goes above and beyond in every area of her life, demonstrating kindness, integrity, and leadership both inside and outside the classroom. As a dedicated member of our Student Lighthouse Team, Micah embraces responsibility with enthusiasm, confidently stepping into leadership roles and modeling the habits we strive to see in all students. Each morning, she faithfully tutors kindergarten students, showing remarkable patience, encouragement, and a genuine passion for helping others grow and succeed. She also takes pride in fulfilling her Leader in Me campus job and actively supporting Lighthouse fundraisers with positivity and commitment.
Micah’s servant leadership extends far beyond our campus. She has participated in summer mission trips to Colorado, helping lead Vacation Bible School and working with younger children at a small church plant. This summer, she will continue serving at a basketball camp in Boston, again investing her time and energy into encouraging and mentoring young children. Whether at school, in another state, or in a new setting, Micah consistently chooses to lead through service.
At home, Micah is a tremendous support to her many siblings, modeling responsibility, compassion, and teamwork. She is dedicated to dance as an extracurricular activity, showing discipline and balance. She faithfully serves at her church, working closely with her dad in the Kids Praise program and assisting with youth pastor duties. It is clear in everything she does that she has a heart for helping children, and she already demonstrates the patience, leadership, and love of learning that will one day make her an incredible teacher.
Micah doesn’t just participate—she elevates those around her. She embodies leadership, service, character, and excellence in every environment she enters. Her impact is felt daily, and she represents the very best of what it means to be a Student of the Month.
The Tyler ISD District Students of the Month each receive a certificate and medal, sponsored by CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System.
Each month, Tyler ISD recognizes the exemplary efforts of two students, one from our elementary schools and one from our secondary schools, to be honored. Teachers and school principals submit nominations based on students' excellence in many areas, including academics, leadership, campus, and community involvement. These outstanding qualities lead to successful student outcomes both in and outside of the classroom.
