Congratulations to Skylar Browning, 2nd grade student at Jack Elementary School, for being named the District Elementary Student of the Month.

Skylar consistently demonstrates what it means to be a model leader both in and out of the classroom. She leads by example, shows kindness to others, and takes pride in doing her best each day.

Skylar serves as a classroom greeter; a position she applied for and was selected for because of her friendly personality and her ability to make everyone feel welcome. Each day, she warmly greets her classmates and helps create a positive, inclusive classroom environment where all peers feel valued.

Skylar also submitted a reflection piece through PTA and received recognition for her work, advancing to the next roundβ€”an accomplishment that highlights her thoughtfulness, creativity, and strong character. In addition, she was selected as second grade’s Patriot Leader, an honor based on teacher recommendations that reflect her responsibility, leadership, and positive influence on others.

Outside of school, Skylar is equally dedicated and driven. She is an avid cheerleader and hip-hop dancer, and she earned 1st place in October at the Future Flyer Faceoff Competition in the beginning tumbling level.

Skylar consistently shows initiative, leadership, and kindness in everything she does. Her positive attitude and strong character make her an excellent role model for her peers and a wonderful choice for Student of the Month.

The Tyler ISD District Students of the Month each receive a certificate and medal, sponsored by CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System.

Each month, Tyler ISD recognizes the exemplary efforts of two students, one from our elementary schools and one from our secondary schools, to be honored. Teachers and school principals submit nominations based on students' excellence in many areas, including academics, leadership, campus, and community involvement. These outstanding qualities lead to successful student outcomes both in and outside of the classroom.
