Tyler ISD proudly recognizes Maria Riggs, celebrating her remarkable dedication, positive spirit, and lasting impact on students and staff at Austin Elementary.
Ms. Riggs is nearing an incredible milestone, as she will complete 30 years of service with Tyler ISD at the end of the 2025–2026 school year—all of them spent at Austin Elementary. Her commitment to one campus and community speaks volumes about her passion for education and the relationships she has built over the years.
A trailblazer in the district, Ms. Riggs earned a Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) Exemplary designation during the program’s inaugural year in 2020–2021, becoming the first teacher at Austin Elementary to achieve this distinction. Her excellence in the classroom continues to set a high standard for others.
Known for her warm smile and can-do attitude, Ms. Riggs brings energy and positivity to campus each day. She is a dedicated educator who works tirelessly to support both her students and colleagues. Affectionately known as the “Tajin Spicer,” she adds just the right blend of enthusiasm and encouragement to everything she does.
