It was a memorable evening for the next class of Early College High School (ECHS) students as they took the first step in their journey toward college and career success in Tyler ISD.
Last night, ECHS hosted its highly anticipated signing event, welcoming new students and their families to the campus. The come-and-go celebration marked a major milestone as students officially committed to joining the number one school in East Texas βwhere they can earn both a high school diploma and a free associate degree through a unique partnership with Tyler Junior College.

With 155 students signing their commitment, the event was filled with energy, excitement, and opportunity. Families were guided through each step of the onboarding process, helping ensure students are prepared to begin their ECHS experience.
Throughout the evening, students and parents visited a variety of stations designed to support their transition, including check-in, immunization verification with the school nurse, and important information about the TSI assessment and Summer Bridge program. Representatives from the Booster Club and student organizations were also on hand to share ways to get involved and stay connected.

One of the most impactful moments of the event was college registration. With support from TJC staff, students officially registered for classesβtaking a major step toward becoming college students. While the process took approximately 20 minutes, it represented the beginning of an incredible academic journey.
The event also featured refreshments, photo opportunities, and ECHS swag bags, giving students a chance to celebrate their decision and connect with their future school community.
More than just a signing, the event symbolized a commitment to academic excellence, personal growth, and a future full of possibilities. As these new Owls begin their journey, Early College High School continues to open doors and break barriers for students in Tyler ISD and across East Texas.
