Hadestown: Teen Edition is a modern retelling of the ancient Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, exploring themes of love, sacrifice, and hope. Rather than portraying Hadestown as a place of evil, the production presents it as a reflection of the fears and hardships that can trap individuals, making its message deeply relatable and impactful.

“Our students have approached this story with so much maturity, bravery, and heart,” Tyler Legacy Theatre Director Leigh Shelton said. “It has truly been a gift to bring this production to life. We hope that our story invites you to reflect on the choices we make when love is tested and to remember that hope is always worth holding on to. At its core, Hadestown: Teen Edition is a love story—one that reminds us hope can survive and even mend a broken world.”
The Broadway Dallas High School Musical Theatre Awards were created to recognize and support excellence in high school musical theatre across North Texas. Modeled after the Tony Awards®, the program honors both student performers and production teams.
Tyler Legacy Theatre will take the stage once again at the awards ceremony on May 2 at Fair Park Music Hall, performing in front of an audience of more than 3,400 attendees, an unforgettable opportunity to showcase their talent on a grand stage.
With record-breaking nominations and a powerful performance, Tyler Legacy Theatre continues to raise the bar for student arts in Tyler ISD.
