Hubbard Middle School celebrated a major academic milestone today after being revalidated as an AVID National Demonstration School for the third time, a prestigious distinction earned by only a small percentage of schools nationwide.

Students, staff, campus, and district leaders gathered at Hubbard Middle School to recognize the achievement, which reflects the campus’ continued commitment to excellence in instruction, systems, culture, and leadership. The celebration included remarks from campus and district leaders and the reading of a proclamation by Smith County Judge Neal Franklin, officially naming February 11, 2026, as Hubbard AVID National Demonstration Day.

β€œHubbard Middle School’s third revalidation as an AVID National Demonstration Site reflects the campus’ continued commitment to excellence in instruction, systems, culture, and leadership,” said Lillian Brooks, District AVID Coordinator. β€œThis recognition is the result of a collective effort by students, educators, staff, and campus leadership working together to maintain high expectations and support student success. Hubbard’s sustained success demonstrates what is possible when high expectations and intentional systems are implemented schoolwide.”

Hubbard Middle School was first named an AVID National Demonstration School in 2017 after completing a rigorous validation process, becoming the first campus in East Texas to earn the designationβ€”an honor achieved by fewer than five percent of AVID systems nationwide. The campus was revalidated again during the 2021–2022 school year.

This most recent revalidation followed a visit from AVID’s National Validation Team, which evaluated Hubbard’s schoolwide implementation of the AVID College Readiness System. National Demonstration Schools are recognized for exemplary AVID instructional practices, strong leadership, and a campus culture that supports college readiness and student achievement, while also serving as models for schools across the nation.
