The Tyler High School Cross Country team once again proved that leadership extends far beyond the racecourse as they hosted December’s Carter Blood Drive, combining holiday spirit with life-saving impact. From planning to clean-up, the student-athletes managed every step of the event while raising funds to provide lunch for Carter staff and volunteers.

With a Christmas theme in full swing, the team dressed as elves and Santa’s helpers as they advertised the drive, organized schedules, and transformed the gym into a welcoming donation site. They escorted students from class, provided snacks, assisted with recovery, and ensured every donor felt supported throughout the process.

Their hard work paid off: 173 students arrived to donate, resulting in 114 successful donations. Because each donation can support 3–4 life-saving treatments, the drive contributed an estimated 399 life-saving transfusions for patients in need.

The team’s dedication was evident, showing the same heart that they bring to every race, but in a way that demonstrated an even greater kind of strength. Their efforts served the school, the community, and people they will never meet, reflecting a level of purpose and impact that is truly meaningful.

By combining service, school spirit, and compassion, the Tyler High Cross Country team closed out the semester with an event that truly made a difference.
