Raised in East Texas, Elizabeth Gomez’s journey is deeply rooted in the Tyler community she now proudly serves. After moving to Tyler ISD in middle school, she attended Moore Middle School as a magnet student and later graduated in the top 10% of her class from Tyler High School. A first-generation college graduate, Elizabeth earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from The University of Texas at Tyler, further strengthening her ties to her hometown and its future.

Elizabeth began her career in education as a bilingual teacher at Bell Elementary, earning recognition as Campus Teacher of the Year for the 2018–2019 school year. She later served as a Bilingual Instructional Specialist at the district level before becoming assistant principal at Birdwell Dual Language Immersion School, where she continued championing the power of bilingual education.

Now in her third year as principal of Bonner Elementary, Elizabeth has guided her school to remarkable successβ€”including a significant improvement in school culture and earning Bonner’s first-ever β€œA” rating from the Texas Education Agency (TEA). She is proud to lead a school that reflects the diversity, heart, and resilience of the community that raised her.
