Tyler ISD is proud to celebrate Elizabeth Gomez, principal of Bonner Elementary, as the 2025 recipient of the Hispanic Business Alliance Outstanding Professional of the Year Award! The awards were held at the W.T. Brookshire Conference Center, honoring leaders who demonstrate exceptional dedication and impact within their professions and communities.

Raised in East Texas, Elizabeth Gomezβs journey is deeply rooted in the Tyler community she now proudly serves. After moving to Tyler ISD in middle school, she attended Moore Middle School as a magnet student and later graduated in the top 10% of her class from Tyler High School. A first-generation college graduate, Elizabeth earned both her bachelorβs and masterβs degrees from The University of Texas at Tyler, further strengthening her ties to her hometown and its future.
Elizabeth began her career in education as a bilingual teacher at Bell Elementary, earning recognition as Campus Teacher of the Year for the 2018β2019 school year. She later served as a Bilingual Instructional Specialist at the district level before becoming assistant principal at Birdwell Dual Language Immersion School, where she continued championing the power of bilingual education.
Now in her third year as principal of Bonner Elementary, Elizabeth has guided her school to remarkable successβincluding a significant improvement in school culture and earning Bonnerβs first-ever βAβ rating from the Texas Education Agency (TEA). She is proud to lead a school that reflects the diversity, heart, and resilience of the community that raised her.


The Hispanic Business Alliance Outstanding Professional of the Year Award recognizes Principal Gomezβs influence across Tyler ISD and the broader community. Her dedication to excellence in education and leadership continues to inspire students, educators, and families alike.
