Tyler ISD, in partnership with the Texas Workforce Commission Vocational Rehabilitation Services, proudly honors Hand Up Network as the November 2025 B.R.I.D.G.E. Partner of the Month. This award recognizes Hand Up Networkβs outstanding commitment to inclusive employment and to providing meaningful workβbased learning opportunities for students from Tyler Legacy and the LINK 18+ program.
Inclusive employers like Hand Up Network play a crucial role in our community by creating real-world opportunities for students with diverse abilities to learn, grow, and contribute in integrated work settings. Hand Up Network offers a broad range of services and has welcomed Tyler ISD students into its thrift store operations. Students are gaining handsβon experience both in the warehouse and the storefront, learning valuable job skills such as sorting, merchandising, customer service, inventory management, and teamwork.

Lori Harris, Retail Manager, shared how much she appreciates having the students at Hand Up Network, "they are a joy to work with and make meaningful contributions to the dayβtoβday operations in both the warehouse and the storefront." The partnership has already led to tangible success β one student who interned at the thrift store was recently offered a paid position as a result of her internship experience. Stories like this highlight how workβbased learning can lead directly to employment and greater independence for students.
Students from Tyler Legacy and the LINK 18+ program continue to build confidence and workplace readiness while supporting Hand Up Networkβs mission to serve our community. This collaboration exemplifies the spirit of a B.R.I.D.G.E. Partner β Businesses Reaching Individuals Determined to Gain Employment β and demonstrates how Tyler ISD and Texas Workforce VR work together to create pathways to meaningful careers.
