Tyler ISD, in partnership with the Texas Workforce Commission Vocational Rehabilitation Services, proudly honors Hand Up Network as the November 2025 B.R.I.D.G.E. Partner of the Month. This award recognizes Hand Up Network’s outstanding commitment to inclusive employment and to providing meaningful work‑based learning opportunities for students from Tyler Legacy and the LINK 18+ program.
Inclusive employers like Hand Up Network play a crucial role in our community by creating real-world opportunities for students with diverse abilities to learn, grow, and contribute in integrated work settings. Hand Up Network offers a broad range of services and has welcomed Tyler ISD students into its thrift store operations. Students are gaining hands‑on experience both in the warehouse and the storefront, learning valuable job skills such as sorting, merchandising, customer service, inventory management, and teamwork.
Lori Harris, Retail Manager, shared how much she appreciates having the students at Hand Up Network, "they are a joy to work with and make meaningful contributions to the day‑to‑day operations in both the warehouse and the storefront." The partnership has already led to tangible success — one student who interned at the thrift store was recently offered a paid position as a result of her internship experience. Stories like this highlight how work‑based learning can lead directly to employment and greater independence for students.
