Congratulations to our District Secondary Teacher of Month, Curtis Jenkins, welding teacher at the Career & Technology Center.
Known for his expertise, leadership, and student-centered approach, Mr. Jenkins consistently demonstrates what it means to be an exceptional educator in both the classroom and the shop.
Mr. Jenkins is highly respected for his ability to push students to reach their full potential. He knows how to meet each learner where they are, encouraging them to take the next step and build their confidence through hands-on practice and high expectations. His dedication extends beyond instructionβhe works closely with students pursuing the NCCER welding certification, collaborating daily with colleague Ramon Williams to help them achieve this important industry-based credential. He even supports new teachers navigating the complexities of NCCER requirements, offering guidance and mentorship with patience and expertise.
This year, Mr. Jenkins expanded his leadership by stepping into the role of Co-Advisor for the Technology Student Association CTSO. In this position, he has taken on additional responsibilities, coaching students as they prepare for regional and state competitions and ensuring they feel supported every step of the way.
A true team player, Mr. Jenkins is always willing to help fellow teachers and staff with whatever is needed to get the job done. His innovative ideas, collaborative spirit, and commitment to student success make him an invaluable part of the CTC and Tyler ISD.
