Congratulations to Talia Steele, 5th grade student at Clarkston Elementary School, for being named the District Elementary Student of the Month.

Talia plays an important leadership role on her campus. As a member of the morning announcement crew, she helps develop and record content for the daily broadcasts shared with the entire school. Talia supports her team by speaking clearly, working responsibly behind the scenes, and contributing creative ideas for announcements that keep students informed and inspired each morning.

In addition to her work on announcements, Talia also serves on the Student Lighthouse Teamβ€”an honor reserved for student leaders in grades 3–5. She meets monthly with Mrs. Cureton to share student feedback about what is going well on campus and what students need to feel successful. Talia helps brainstorm, plan, and support schoolwide initiatives such as Leader in Me clubs, Special Friends in Specials, Family Game Night, and other student and family engagement events.

Through her positive attitude, problem-solving skills, and commitment to helping others, Talia demonstrates strong leadership and makes Clarkston a better place for all students.

The Tyler ISD District Students of the Month each receive a certificate and medal, sponsored by CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System.

Each month, Tyler ISD recognizes the exemplary efforts of two students, one from our elementary schools and one from our secondary schools, to be honored. Teachers and school principals submit nominations based on students' excellence in many areas, including academics, leadership, campus, and community involvement. These outstanding qualities lead to successful student outcomes both in and outside of the classroom.
