Tyler Legacy High School Medical Terminology students recently experienced an unforgettable, hands-on learning opportunity when the CHRISTUS Health Flight-for-Life helicopter landed on the southwest lawn of campus. The event was designed to bring classroom learning to life and deepen students’ understanding of healthcare careers.

Medical Terminology teacher Brooklynn Thompson organized the event in collaboration with CHRISTUS Health, the Tyler Pounds Regional Airport director, and Coach Henry, whose students were also invited to participate. Together, they coordinated the helicopter’s flight plan to ensure a safe and educational visit.

As the helicopter touched down, students watched in awe before meeting the highly trained flight crew. They learned about emergency response procedures, medical equipment used on board, and the critical role of teamwork in saving lives. Students also had the chance to ask questions about healthcare careers, education pathways, and real-world experiences in the medical field.

β€œThe students were able to connect directly with healthcare professionals, ask thoughtful questions, and gain real-world insight into their future careers,” Thompson said. β€œWe’re so thankful to CHRISTUS for making this visit possibleβ€”our students left inspired and excited about the possibilities ahead!”
