The third-grade students at Orr Elementary shined brightly this week as they took the stage to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a vibrant and educational music program. Designed to honor the rich cultures, history, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities, the event captivated families, classmates, and staff alike.
Students brought history to life by dressing as iconic Hispanic figures, including baseball legend Roberto Clemente, Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, and the βQueen of Salsaβ Celia Cruz. Their lively performances combined song, movement, and storytelling, making the celebration both meaningful and memorable.
Adding to the excitement, a colorful parade of flags representing Spanish-speaking countries reminded the audience of the global influence of Hispanic heritage and the importance of embracing cultural diversity. Each studentβs performance reflected not only their creativity but also their dedication to learning about the leaders and traditions that have shaped society.
βOrrβs third graders did an amazing job bringing these iconic figures to life,β said Ms. Shabnam Khalatbari, Dean of Students. βCelebrating Hispanic Heritage Month in this way helps our students connect with history and inspires them to learn more about the contributions of Hispanic and Latino leaders in our society.β
The program left a lasting impression, uniting the Orr community in pride and celebration.
