Tyler ISD is excited to announce a unique and growing partnership with the East Texas State Fair that will inspire students and strengthen the future of agricultural education across the District.

Friday, professional rodeo athletes visited several Tyler ISD campuses to share their experiences, demonstrate their skills, and talk with students about the traditions and values behind the sport. From bull riding, bareback riding, breakaway roping, barrel racing to specialty acts, students were introduced to the dedication and discipline that make rodeo an important part of East Texas culture.

More than a one-time event, this collaboration reflects Tyler ISD’s commitment to expanding agricultural education for students at all grade levels. By connecting classroom learning to real-world experiences, the District aims to spark curiosity about agriculture, encourage career exploration, and inspire a deeper appreciation for the role it plays in our community.

β€œRodeo is about more than competitionβ€”it’s about agriculture, ranching, tradition, and the values of hard work and resilience,” said Chief Innovation Officer Dr. Bobby Markle. β€œBy bringing professional rodeo athletes directly into our schools, we’re showing students how agriculture connects to their lives today and their opportunities tomorrow. This partnership with the East Texas State Fair is the start of something much bigger, laying the groundwork for how our College and Career pathways will grow in Tyler ISD for years to come.”

As part of this long-term partnership, Tyler ISD and the East Texas State Fair will continue creating opportunities for students to engage with rodeo culture and agricultural education, ensuring that future generations understand and value the role of agriculture in East Texas.
