Congratulations to our District Elementary Teacher of Month, Maria Anza, third grade teacher at Orr Elementary School.
A dedicated bilingual teacher, Mrs. Anza has quickly distinguished herself as an outstanding teacher and mentor, making a remarkable impact in just her second year with the district. Originally from Spain, she has embraced her role in Tyler ISD with passion, determination, and an unwavering commitment to student success.
Mrs. Anzaβs excellence in the classroom is evident not only in her instruction but also in her results. In her short time at Orr, she has earned the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) Master designation, a recognition that reflects her ability to consistently drive significant student growth. Under her guidance, the percentage of 3rd grade bilingual students passing the STAAR reading assessment has increased from 63% to an impressive 87% in just two years. This achievement underscores the effectiveness of her teaching strategies and her relentless dedication to her studentsβ academic progress.
Beyond academic gains, Mrs. Anza is known for her ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students and their families. She cares deeply about their success both in and out of the classroom, creating a supportive environment where students feel seen, valued, and encouraged to reach their full potential.
Though she is humble and never one to seek recognition, Mrs. Anzaβs coachable spirit, tenacity, and heart for her students set her apart as a truly exceptional educator. Tyler ISD celebrates her well-deserved honor and thanks her for the profound difference she continues to make in the lives of her students.
