Fifty Tyler ISD juniors and seniors have been selected to join the inaugural class of Future Leaders of Tyler (FLT), a pilot program designed to empower the next generation of leaders in the Rose City. Students from Tyler High School, Legacy High School, and Early College High School were surprised with letters of acceptance, marking the start of an exciting, yearlong leadership journey.
Applicants submitted materials during the spring semester and were chosen for their leadership potential, commitment to service, and desire to learn more about their community. Beginning this fall, FLT members will participate in monthly sessions hosted at the Career & Technology Center (CTC). Through interactive panels, site visits, and hands-on learning, students will gain firsthand insight into the vital roles of local government, non-profits, education, and the business communityβand how East Texas industries keep Tyler growing and thriving.
Created and implemented by the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Tyler ISD and the Business Education Council, the FLT pilot highlights a shared commitment to fostering civic responsibility, collaboration, and a deeper connection to the community. Each session will feature top regional leaders who will share their experiences, answer student questions, and highlight potential career pathways across East Texas.
Tyler ISD congratulates the 50 students selected for the charter class of Future Leaders of Tyler and looks forward to the impact they will makeβon campus, in the community, and beyond.
