Jones Elementary School was full of color and energy as students, families, and staff came together for the schoolβs Campus Beautification Project. The student-led event transformed the school grounds into a vibrant, welcoming space while fostering a sense of teamwork and shared purpose.
Led by the schoolβs Student Ambassadors, each grade level from Pre-K through 5th grade was assigned a designated area of the campus to beautify. Students set up outdoor embellishments such as bird feeders, umbrellas, flags, and hummingbird feeders. These additions, combined with flower planting and creative touches, marked the start of an ongoing commitment by each grade to maintain their space throughout the school year.
βThe umbrellas, bird feeders, and flowers make it more fun,β said fourth-grade Student Ambassador Chelsy Elorza. βI think students will be happy they go to school here.β
The event also had food trucks, an onsite DJ, prize raffles, and art stations where guests could decorate a potted succulent to take home. Families gathered in lawn chairs, enjoying music and conversation while witnessing the positive impact of student leadership in action.
Teacher and event co-chair Ms. Jade Perry emphasized the deeper impact of the project, saying, βMrs. Cameio Grounds and I wanted to give our students one last opportunity to serve as campus leaders before summer vacation. Applying what theyβve learned about ecosystems to improve their surroundings connects academics with real-world action.β
The event was made possible through generous community partnerships and donations that provided materials and supplies.
