Tyler ISD is a Proud BCME District and was awarded in 2025 as one of the Best Communities for Music Education.

Tyler ISD, your hometown school district, has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation for the seventh consecutive year!

β€œThis recognition reflects the passion and dedication our music educators bring to classrooms across the district every day,” said Luke Dean, Director of Visual and Performing Arts. β€œFrom elementary music rooms to high school performance halls, our teachers are creating spaces where students grow not just as musicians but as confident, collaborative individuals. It’s an honor to see their hard work celebrated on a national level.”

Now in its 26th year, the Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in providing music access and education to all students. This recognition underscores Tyler ISD’s unwavering commitment to providing exceptional music education opportunities to its students, enriching their lives through the power of music.

2025 Best Communities for Music Education award to Tyler ISD.

β€œWe’re honored to be recognized as one of the Best Communities for Music Education for the seventh consecutive year,” said Chief Communications Officer Jennifer Hines. β€œThis achievement reflects the incredible commitment of our music educators and the unwavering support from our Tyler ISD community. We take great pride in providing students with a music education that inspires creativity, builds discipline, and nurtures a lifelong appreciation for the arts.”

Nationwide, only 935 school districts were recognized for their outstanding efforts in music education. To earn this prestigious designation, Tyler ISD underwent rigorous evaluation, answering detailed inquiries about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program, and community music-making programs.

Research continues to affirm the profound benefits of music education for students. After only two years of music education, participants demonstrated significant improvements in reading scores and speech processing compared to their peers. Furthermore, students engaged in music are more likely to graduate high school and pursue higher education.

Tyler ISD remains committed to providing comprehensive music education that enhances cognitive skills and fosters social and emotional development in its students.
