Students from the Wayne D. Boshears Center for Exceptional Programs were celebrated for their dedication to community service at a volunteer banquet hosted by the East Texas Food Bank. The event recognized volunteers who have contributed their time and effort to support the food bank’s mission, β€œTo fight hunger and feed hope in East Texas,” over the past year.

Special Education teachers Jessica Dene and Maix Odon led their high school students in community service projects that included assisting with food distribution and raising awareness about food insecurity in the region. The students’ efforts have demonstrated their commitment to making a meaningful difference and their ability to address critical social challenges.

About the Boshears Center
The Boshears Center is a self-contained program that offers special education services to students ages 3-21 and is part of the continuum of services provided by Tyler ISD. Students attend the Boshears Center because of the severity of their disabilities and the support necessary to meet their individual needs, as determined by the Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee.
