The weather forecast called for sunshine, but Mother Nature had something else in mind!

Instead of outdoor activities, they moved to an indoor extravaganza. From horseshoes to sheep corralling, they pitched in to ensure that the hallways, gymnasium, and library were ready for students when they came to school on the last day before Spring Break.

“Our staff truly is an amazing team,” Principal Georganna Jones said. “No matter the circumstances, we all unite to put students and families first.”

Campus staff put together the plan for set up and shifts at all the indoor stations—the students dressed in their favorite Wranglers and Texas-themed attire. The main choices were boots, hats, bandanas, denim dresses, and jeans.

The giant smoker sat under a tent to keep it dry. Beef hot dogs were heating up to make chili dogs. “Some of our students have never had a chili dog. They are extremely excited to taste one for the first time,” Principal Jones added.

Parents, grandparents, and other family members were eager to take pictures with their “little buck-a-roos” and help in any way they could. They gave out many hugs and high-fives while joining in on the laughter throughout it all.

The day was the result of an entire Texas week of studies. Teachers shared facts and included creative ways for students to learn about the history of the state they call home, including the Alamo and the first settlers.

“Texas is a place for all,” Andy Woods Elementary Teacher Summer Evers said.”  “Our students know this is a place they can happily call home.”
