The Tyler ISD Communications team has once again proven its excellence in the realm of school communications, securing a remarkable total of 11 awards from two distinguished organizations: the Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) and the American Advertising Federation (AAF) East Texas.

Tyler ISD received eight awards for distinguished achievement in school communications. The awards were announced at the TSPRA Star Awards Celebration on February 28 during the association's annual conference in Sugarland, Texas.

The district competed against counterparts with student populations ranging from 15,000 to 40,000. Tyler ISD has been recognized for outstanding work in the areas of Writing, Published News or Features, Photography, Video, and Marketing.

Recognizing the district's excellence in various communication endeavors, Tyler ISD received three gold awards, two for published news or feature, and one for a video of a general event, two silver awards for writing, one bronze award for photo sports subjects, and two crystal Certificates of Merit for photography and marketing.

"We are honored to receive these awards from TSPRA," Chief Communications Officer Jennifer Hines said. "These accolades are a testament to our team's hard work and dedication to providing effective and engaging communications to our students, families, and community."

The TSPRA Annual Star Awards are a prestigious recognition of excellence in school communications and public relations in Texas. Each year, TSPRA recognizes communicators in school districts, education foundations, education associations, and organizations for their outstanding work in print and electronic media.

In addition to the TSPRA honors, Tyler ISD earned three awards from AAF East Texas, a Silver ADDY and a Judge's Honor ADDY in the Public Services Brand Elements category for a new brand for Dr. Bryan C. Jack Elementary School, as well as Best of Category in the Public Service Advertising category, also for the new Jack brand.

The Judge's Honor ADDY is one of the judge's favorite submissions, including feedback that detailed the depth of brand elements, and the execution of design made the judges smile every time they looked at it.

Conducted annually by the AAF, the local tier of the American Advertising Awards is the first of a three-tier national competition. At the second tier, local ADDY winners (silver and above) compete against winners from other local clubs in one of 15 district competitions. District ADDY winners can then advance to the national stage of the American Advertising Awards. The Tyler ISD Silver ADDY will advance to the district competition.

The American Advertising Awards is the advertising industry's largest and most representative competition, attracting more than 25,000 entries every year in local AAF Ad Club competitions. The mission of the American Advertising Awards is to recognize and reward the creative spirit of excellence in the art of advertising.

“These awards not only honor Tyler ISD's communications team but also underscore the district's ongoing dedication to effective communication and community engagement,” Hines said. “They serve as a testament to Tyler ISD's unwavering pursuit of excellence in all facets of its operations, setting a high standard for educational institutions across the state and beyond.”
