three men and a woman stand behind a giant check for $750

It was a well-planned and executed surprise for one Career & Technology Center (CTC) AV/Production student. The Better Business Bureau’s (BBB) Business Engagement & Community Outreach Coordinator Rachelle Ewart presented a check award to Steven Young.

Ms. Ewart surprised Steven in his classroom, met with applause by his classmates and instructor. CTC leadership, Dr. Kristen Walls and Christopher Blake congratulated him on this incredible achievement. Schools across East Texas submitted entries for the Award of Excellence Student Video Contest. All students were applauded for their exceptional achievements, hard work, and desire to become future leaders. CTC student Steven Young was only one of three winners.

“I’m very proud of Steven winning 3rd place in this year’s contest,” Audio/Video Production Teacher Jason Bethany said. “My classes enjoy submitting each year. The project engages students in teamwork, creativity, communication, and marketing skills while learning about the BBB’s resources.”
